There's something I love about nude lips. Maybe it's the lure of the sultry Brigitte Bardot look, or the fact that nude lips never go out of fashion. Style legend Kate Moss chose a subtle shade for her wedding day, and peachy lips are a staple for the achingly cool Olsen twins. Nude lips allow me to accentuate my eyes and indulge in smokey eye-make-up, as I'm not a huge fan of all-out lips and eyes together. To avoid looking cheap and nasty, I pick shades relatively close to my natural lip shade, maybe a couple of shades lighter and slightly more pinky. I don't like lipsticks which feel tacky or contain too much glitter and I never wear lipgloss. Long hair + lipgloss = FAIL.

So with a little trepidation, I broke away from my trusted favourite MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in 'Creme D'Nude' and picked up the Topshop Lips 'Nevada'
I really like Topshop's make-up packaging; it's simple, modern and does what it says on the tin. Having said that, I have another shade called 'Mischief' (a bright pillar box red) which I bought about a year ago, and the once white tube is mucky and unrecognisable from being housed in my overflowing make-up bag. The Lipstick itself applies very nicely, it is smooth and feels very moisturising. The colour is pretty even, although it tends to gather on my top lip, and I have to dab away the excess. The colour is relatively sheer and glossy, but still gives a good coverage. I wouldn't say that the lipstick stays on very well, as I had to re-apply multiple times throughout the night on which I first wore it out. It doesn't stay on at all after eating and drinking, but neither do most lipsticks to be fair.

I would agree with many of the people who have reviewed it on the Topshop website: unless you apply balm or Vaseline beforehand, the lipstick can get stuck in dry lips, which is never a good look!

Overall, I like this lipstick and it makes a great and cheaper alternative to my old love, MAC's 'Creme D'Nude'. I can't wait to see what it looks like with a tan!!
